Mattel had already launched doll merchandise based on the main characters. However, shoppers noticed that the dolls' packaging mistakenly directed them to a website for an adult studio rather than the movie's site.
Major retailers like Walmart and Target began pulling the dolls from shelves following media coverage of the error, and Mattel acknowledged the issue, advising that the listed site is not child-appropriate. This mistake has also created a market for resellers, who are listing the misprinted dolls at hundreds of dollars, far above the original retail price of $25–$40.
