Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 doesn’t shy away from consequences. Engage in a killing spree or unleash chaos, and the game will take note, ultimately leading to one of its more unexpected and secretive endings.

The game, developed by Warhorse Studios, is a medieval RPG that has already enjoyed great success, selling millions and dominating Steam charts. It can often feel akin to a first-person Grand Theft Auto, but set in 15th century Bohemia, now known as the Czech Republic. Players can choose to embody a virtuous hero or an outright villain while pursuing various side quests. The depth of the game’s immersive experience shines through in an ending that only unfolds after a streak of extensive criminal activity.

This particular ending was showcased online by YouTuber NikTek shortly after the game’s release. They noted, “If you commit multiple crimes in Kingdom Come Deliverance II, you will get a full execution cutscene. This is impressive!” However, it’s important to understand that triggering this event requires significant wrongdoing; merely committing a few minor infractions may land you in stocks or result in a sobering game over screen for losing the trust of Lord von Bergow.

If you truly go on a crime spree, you’ll either have to fight against the consequences or resign to waiting for your execution. This sequence plays out dramatically, taking about two minutes as the main character, Henry, is led to the town square for his hanging. It’s a strikingly cinematic moment, contrasting sharply with how many games merely present failure conditions as minor setbacks.

Not in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The closure screen reads, “Game over. You have been executed for your crimes.” Although the scene is intense, some might argue that if the game really wanted to make a strong statement, it could go a step further and delete the player’s save file post-execution. It’s worth noting that even games that enforce save deletions for achieving legitimate endings haven’t taken that drastic measure. Perhaps there will be more surprises when Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 arrives.
